Susan lost 20 pounds in last three months,
she was truly happy. She looked jovial and conceited of her
achievement, compliments about her slimmer and younger looks
made her feel special. Perhaps her bliss was short lived as
just after few months she gained back 15 pounds. Can you guess
what went wrong with Susan?
Well! You nailed the donkey, she didn't maintain her weight.
When you loose weight over a period of time, your body begins
reacting to your efforts and retort resulting in weight
loss. After you realize desired results your body keeps
in rhyme with that regime of diet and workout. You then
tend to become sloppy towards your diet and sometimes even
skip your workout, gradually these habits outperform your
fitness schedule and as a consequence you gain back. "But
I cannot diet or workout all my life."
The big question that arises here is how do you maintain
your weight or rather I should say weight loss? You have
to hear it -- the truth is loosing weight is lot easier
than sustaining it. The fact is when you initiate with any
program to loose those extra pounds you are stern and determined
to reach your goal. Even after a month your persistence
never let you on loose and you keep striving for that goal.
But lenience overcomes this attitude when you get rid of
desired flab and you relax. You get keen on being comfortable,
you become lazy and start eating back.
This is where you need to put a halt! If you were acting
on a diet don't cease it completely rather workout some
alterations in that diet, so that your calorie count does
not get disturbed. Like if you were taking a two whole wheat
slices of bread with steamed veggies for your lunch and
you want to add oil cooked stuff, do it with single bread
so that it compensates the additional calories you consume
in your lunch.
Don't go into relaxation completely with your walks and
workouts. I have come across many people who walked 5-6
miles whilst loosing weight and later find even one mile
a hard walk. Cut down your walk to three miles as your body
does not need that much strain but you cannot shun your
routine altogether. If you were working out six days at
the gym, lower it to three or four days with just a mild
shaping for all parts of your body. This will keep you active
and enhance your body contouring as well.
Any weight loss program recommends lot of fluid intake
as to keep the digestive system easy and light. People drink
15-18 glasses of water everyday, I have seen people sitting
with exact measure and drink water like alcoholics till
they are finished with the whole tumbler. Later they switch
to six glasses in a day. Now when the body had become used
to such cleansing, it would also respond and either you
face water retention or your cleansing system suffers again
resulting in weight gain. So please try and take at least
half of what you consumed to keep your system in shape.
Guide your hands to better options. What does that mean?
Watching your favorites soap, a bag of buttered popcorn
is must, a drink or may be few marshmallows. Need to munch
on something few of these won't hurt my weight? You are
wrong my dear, this act would also work gradually and put
you at the same point from where you started. So whenever
you feel like munching keep low cal snacks in abundance
and handy at your place. Opt for lemonade instead of coke;
eat roasted rice flakes in place of marshmallows and certainly
low calorie puffs leaving popcorn aside. You see it is not
that difficult, you simply have to sort your habits.
You devil! You want to enjoy all the pizza at the party
and dessert too, that's sinful.
This attitude is a setback to your program, so learn how
to compensate it. Have you overeaten at a party yesterday
night? Don't worry, relax! Put yourself on a clear soup
diet or a liquid diet next day. This will cleanse your body
and fat they simply can't stay in now.
If you have lost weight at a center it is advisable to
take a maintenance program as well. If you have followed
a diet get another one made about weight maintenance. Never
wear the attitude that you have lost enough or you will
start gaining. Bear in mind one rule to weight maintenance
is "never over eat never again" the bottom line
is your actual struggle starts now.
